Friends – HLF News

Dear Friends of St George and St Mary’s,

Unfortunately, we have received the news from NLHF to say that our application to repair and reopen the church has, this time, not been successful. Everyone on the team was extremely disappointed to hear this; the team had put a huge amount of time, research and effort into the lengthy application. However, we have received some detailed and helpful feedback from NHLF and, as a result, we see this as a setback but not a complete rejection. NHLF recognise we have a worthwhile plan and want to see us succeed. Also, we know from other similar projects that a rejection at this stage is not uncommon.

Moving forward, we aim to re-submit our application, although we have to have the agreement of the PCC to do this. Our second application will be written with greater knowledge and understanding of the process, and we know exactly where the weak points were in our first application.

We continue to have confidence and optimism in the project and we ask that you continue to pray that this is the right way forward for St George and St Mary’s.
