The Ark – Thursdays 1:00pm – 3:00pm

The Ark is a group that meets on Thursday’s between 1pm and 3pm, at Gresley Church Community Centre, for conversation, laughter, singing, bingo and above all mutual support and friendship. It is aimed at people who live alone or are lonely, where they can meet people, have a change of scenery, keep warm and have a hot drink with cakes and biscuits.

As well as the weekly meetings we have outings to Dobbies Garden centre for lunch and shopping, twice a year, Christmas lunch at lakeside, summer outing to a Derbyshire village or shopping centre and Afternoon Tea at Newton Regis Garden Centre. Last Christmas we were also guest of Newhall Junior school, who entertained us with carols, hot drinks and mince pies.

The group is led by Sue Stubbs and Mandy Cairns but we are more facilitators than leaders with suggestion of things to do coming from the membership. Next outing to Dobbies at Atherstone on Thursday 27th March.
