Resourcing Church Communication

September 24th, 2026

Dear all,

Following the PCC on 16 September 2026, I can confirm that all PCC members voted unanimously to move forward with the resourcing Church proposal in principle. St George and St Mary’s, Emmanuel, and St Peter’s are all willing to be chosen as the catalyst church (the descriptor “catalyst church” has been suggested as it recognises that we are not starting from scratch, which Genesis inferred, and that it will act as a catalyst for growth and resourcing across the Minster).

It was agreed that, over the course of the missional design process, we would hold fortnightly feedback sessions at Gresley Church Centre on Sunday Evenings at 5 pm on weeks alternating with the Alive @ Five prayer sessions. We would also publish written feedback on the documents page online, and the PCCs would distribute them to members they identified as unable to access the resources online.

St George and St Mary’s, Emmanuel, and St Peter’s decided to nominate an individual for each discussion topic as appropriate, and St John’s said they would be happy to have clergy nominate someone/s on their behalf who was not necessarily from their church.

The initial group nominated to start the discussion on what the focused area of mission and evangelism for the church will be: the where/who/what is:

  • Emmanuel: Jacques Sigston
  • St George and St Mary’s: Tony Yalden
  • St Peter’s: Helen Davis
  • Clergy nomination: David Wenham

They will report back after they meet, and hopefully there will soon be an outline of future decisions and discussions.

Following the decision to move forward with resourcing church, regular updates can be found on the Minster documents page in addition to the open fortnightly feedback meetings.
